After the adaptation of globalization policy, India's BPO (Business process outsourcing) Industry has grown tremendously in terms of revenue and employment opportunities. BPO is a form of outsourcing involving the contracting of the operations and responsibilities of a specific business functions to a third-party service provider. The trend came for the reason that western developed economies wanted their work done by cheap laborers in third world countries e.g. India, Philippines, Sri Lanka, etc.




Whereas, BPO earlier was associated with manufacturing firms, such as Coca Cola wherein large segments of its supply chain was outsourced to third parties; lately, some sophisticated processes have been transferred to various companies operating in developing countries. BPO jobs in India are mushrooming for the reason that India has a huge pool of trained human resource who are fluent in English language.

BPO as career is not taken as safe and secure job, yet it attracts numerous youngsters who want to earn quick bucks. BPO jobs in India have become a suitable career option and the industry itself has rapidly grown over the last few years. There is a vast selection of profiles ranging from customer service executives, offshore customer care specialists to Fresher BPO jobs and Trainee or Management Trainee PHO jobs and even Technical Support Executive jobs in the this sector.

Development and growth of BPO industry in India has been metro-centric and metro cities such as Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Cochin, Pune, Chandigarh, Gurgaon, Noida, etc. have emerged as leading centers of outsourcing. Though global recession has affected the growth of BPO in recent months, many experts opine that the recession will give impetus to outsourcing as companies in west would prefer cheap outsourcing.

Call centers form a cardinal part of BPO jobs in India and surge in the number of call centers around the globe is creating a high demand for those with the right skills and sound communications skills. The USP of BPO jobs is that companies offer comparatively handsome salaries besides lucrative facilities and opportunities to grow. BPO may be a division within a large corporation, or they may be part of independent companies that contract for outsourcing services to others who need them.

Positions such as Supervisors, Managers, Directors and Senior Management, etc. require experience besides extra ordinary interpersonal skills. Some other positions such as Training, HR, Quality and Payroll ask for specific qualification in specific field. Therefore, those who have specialized knowledge in certain field could venture into Knowledge Process Outsourcing wherein their knowledge and expertise could be utilized for the benefit of clients.
